SR 585 Streetscape (21st and 22nd Ave) Urban Corridor improvement

Challenge

FDOT wanted to beautify the pedestrian corridor through an older section of historic Ybor City, impacting multiple historical structures and businesses.

Client FDOT - District 7
Location Tampa, FL
Budget $9,650,000
Schedule Nov 2014 - Dec 2016

Solution

The scope of work entailed milling and resurfacing 37,197 square yards of roadway and sidewalks, 14,290 linear feet of granite curb work, drainage improvements, signage installation, pavement marking, and landscaping.

Throughout this process, we worked with owners and businesses to develop work phases and plans to minimize impacts and reduce the risk of damage to historical structures.

Result

During the process, Gibbs & Register value engineered the scope of work for additional cost savings. The project enhanced the appearance of the pedestrian corridor in a historical section of Ybor while maintaining historical elements.
